Fans/Blowers

Fans and Blowers help circulate air through a dust collection unit. The primary fan/blower is the heart of the entire system. Fans come in a large variety of configurations. In most cases used fans can be modified to meet precise CFM, static pressure, and horsepower needs. Two very basic fan styles are: material handling fans placed on the positive pressure side of the collector, and centrifugal fans placed on the negative pressure side of the collector. With the latter being the preferred method, that way no material is hitting the fan.

Material Handling fans are useful in large volume applications such as sawdust or coal dust. They are not suggested for applications in which there is sticky material which can accumulate on the blades causing damage or causing the fan to become unbalanced.

Centrifugal fans are the most commonly used fans. Due to them being placed on the negative pressure side of the collector, they reduce the risk of material hitting or collecting on the blades.
